Tommy Car Auto Group awarded two students each with a $1,000 scholarship to attend college this fall. The Scholarship received an overwhelming number of applicants this year, totaling over 100 applications by local students. Lily Rogers of Northampton High School will be attending Yale University. Allison Jenks of Hopkins Academy will be attending University of Connecticut. Both students demonstrated excellence in the classroom and in the community.

The Tom Cosenzi Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Thomas E. Cosenzi. When Thomas E. Cosenzi passed away in 2009, it was not only ownership of the TommyCar Auto Group that passed to his children, Carla and Thomas, but his legacy of giving back to the community. That legacy was evident when the two recipients of the 2017 Tom Cosenzi Scholarship were awarded their checks for $1,000.

“The Tom Cosenzi Scholarship is dedicated to assisting High School graduates in furthering their education,” said Carla Cosenzi, President of TommyCar Auto Group. “The combination of academic achievement and community leadership exhibited by these students underscores the core values of this scholarship.”

Giving back to the community is second nature to Carla Cosenzi. For the sixth year in a row Country Hyundai partnered with Baystate Children’s Hospital to raise money. During the month of March, Country Hyundai donated $10 for every Elantra test drive and $100 for every Elantra purchased to Baystate Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to customer involvement, Country Hyundai was able to donate $1,950 towards the work and well-being of Baystate Children's Hospital. In addition to the monetary donation, Carla donated 3 brand new iPads for the hospital. To date, Carla and her team have raised over $16,500.

“Country’s Hyundai’s generous donation to Baystate Children’s Hospital, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and our continued partnership with Carla Cosenzi throughout the years is a perfect example of her enthusiasm to keep funds local and the Country Hyundai team understanding the impact it has on our pediatric patients and families in the community. We so much appreciate their commitment to Baystate Health Foundation and continuing to use us as their charity of choice,” said Briana LaChappelle, Manager of Fundraising Events from Baystate Health Foundation.”

“I try to spend time supporting organizations like these and many others. In my mind, it’s just a logical habit. I feel like, as a business owner, it’s my obligation to give back to the community. Thanks to this event, we’re able to help make a difference,” said Carla Cosenzi, President of Country Hyundai
